Children at George Grenville Academy have swimming lessons in every year in Key Stage Two. The aim is that they will be swimming 25m by the time they finish primary school and for some of our children, this will be the only swimming lessons they take so we try and maximise this opportunity. The frequency of swimming lessons also enables the children to build strength, improve technique and develop confidence in water. Grenville is a five minute walk from Swan Pool in Buckingham so lessons are easily slotted into the school day.
Swimming and Water Safety In particular, pupils will be taught to:
swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres
use a range of strokes effectively (for example, front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke)
perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations
