Spanish Lessons at George Grenville Academy

Picture

INTENT

At Grenville, Spanish is taught throughout the school from Early Years to Year 6. We employ a specialist teacher for this subject as we believe the value this adds to quality of education is extremely important.

We want our children to leave Grenville having a secure foundation in a modern foreign language before they embark on their secondary education. Both local feeder schools (The Buckingham School and The Royal Latin) teach Spanish as a language option. It is our intention that pupils from Grenville are well equipped for these classes and are already able to grasp the basics during this transition in their education.

We also choose Spanish as it is a global language and thought to be the 4th most common language spoken worldwide after English, Mandarin Chinese and Hindi.

It is our intention to ignite a love of learning a language in our pupils and provide a firm foundation to extend their learning at secondary level.

IMPLEMENTATION

Laura Langley from Kidslingo plans, teaches and assesses the children's progress throughout the school.

Laura has a BA in Modern Languages, and is a qualified teacher. She has taught French and Spanish for 14 years (and counting!). Laura also has two young children who have been learning Spanish from a very young age and has seen how much they have enjoyed it and benefited from it.
Please visit Laura's Kidslingo website to find out more.

Duolingo

In addition to their weekly Spanish lessons, the children have access to Duolingo where they can extend their learning at home.
