At George Grenville Academy, we want to inspire a love of music in all of our pupils. We believe that music is an important subject that can stimulate brain development, develop children's confidence and teamwork skills and also support positive mental health. Children will leave George Grenville Academy being able to read simple music and will have had experience with composing, playing a variety of instruments and appreciate a variety of musical genres.
Implementation
Music is delivered by a specialist music teacher across the whole school. Igniting a love of music starts early, though singing and exploring instruments in Early Years, leading to learning a variety of music including djembe drums, ukuleles and keyboards by the end of Key Stage Two.
Individual Tuition
All children have the opportunity to learn an instrument and we have access to a number of different peripatetic teachers who can come in to teach individual lessons.
We would like to encourage as many of our pupils to make the most of music tuition and we work closely with Bucks Music Trust to make this as affordable as possible for all our parents. 50% discounts are offered for children who are eligible for Free School Meals or come form low income families who just don't meet that threshold. There are also music centres that offer lots of opportunities outside of the school day. If your child would like to learn an instrument (including vocal lesson) but finances are still a barrier, then please contact the school using the contact details below.
