Equality Statement
We are committed to ensuring equality of opportunity in line with the Equality Act of October 2010. George Grenville Academy is an inclusive school and we pride ourselves on valuing each child for their differences.
We seek to demonstrate this through all aspects of school life and in particular through our commitment to every child, fulfilling their potential. This commitment applies to our work in the classroom, our curriculum, our support systems, our recruitment and retention of staff and our work in the local and wider community.
We will ensure that all pupils have the opportunity to achieve the very best that they are capable of and will also guide parents on how they can support their child’s achievement. Where pupils experience barriers to their success, we are dedicated to providing the right support so that all children achieve their potential.
Last year we updated our PSHE and Relationships Polices in line with government guidance. In relationship lessons, children are introduced to diverse families and positive relationships that they may encounter during their lifetime. In PSHE lessons, children are also able to express their views in an supportive format which also teaches the values of respect, empathy compassion and tolerance for the beliefs and views of others.
We have nearly 20% of our school community that are not white British. We have designed our curriculum to ensure that many different cultures are explored and celebrated throughout a pupil's life at Grenville. Diversity is also celebrated as part of our assemblies which are currently online due to current coronavirus restrictions.
29% of our pupils are eligible for pupil premium funding and our curriculum is designed to open up opportunities and experiences that may not be achievable outside school. We will be continuing to offer a wide range of extra curricular activities at Grenville as we recognise the importance of enrichment opportunities. Pupils eligible for pupil premium funding are able to access one free club a term as part of our offer.
We run a school council and we ensure that there is a diverse selection of pupils representing the school that sit on the committee.
Please see our Equality Information and Objectives Policy for more details.
